Past Events

It has been a great start to the season at the Pollença culture lounge with classical pianists, wine tasting, gourmet tapas and jazz. Here are some of the highlights.

Your hosts Sam and Mark Carney

The Martos & Nedéltcheva Duo

The fabulous duo of Paula Martos on cello and Dina Nedeltcheva on piano made their sala61 debut with great style. The audience was treated to some beautiful Schuman, Beethoven and some lesser known Bulgarian Minatures and a very lovely Spanish serenade by Casado. We are looking forward to their return very soon.

The Happy Cats Debut

In the very capable hands of three outstanding musicians from Palma, the Happy Cats took their unique style and shone a light on some of the great jazz classics. It was a real treat to hear Sala61 filled with the sounds of Christa Elmer, Pedro Riestra and Nacho Vegas. We hope they feel they now have a new home in Pollença.

Gourmet Tapas

Sometimes it's not just the music that takes centre stage! Thanks to Tan A Gustito the music of the night was perfectly accompanied by delicious small plates of tapas.

Gourmet Tapas

A Delicate Touch

Mallorcan pianist, Magí Garcías took us on a wonderful journey through Chopin, Debussy and some lesser known pieces by Spanish composer Frederico Mompou. A beautiful sound from this accomplished musician.

Wine Pairing with Piano

For something a bit different to the normal wine pairing events we teamed up with Ivan and Lara from The Wine Industry and British pianist William Bracken. Who would have thought a piece of music could influence the flavours of wine!

Opening Night

For our first public event we welcomed the very talented pianist William Bracken from London. About to make his Wigmore Hall debut, it was a special treat for us to to hear him in Pollença.  We wanted to create a venue that made listening to classical music less fussy, a lounge feeling in our home. So with a glass of wine in hand and listening to William chat with the audience it was the perfect start to the Sala61 programme of events.
